Tomato Prices Surge Sharply Today! Record Highs in Gujarat & MP, Dip in Maharashtra – Check Which Market Is Best for Selling

Tomato prices across major mandis in India witnessed sharp volatility today. While rates remained moderate to average in Maharashtra, key markets in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh saw a strong upward rally. Notably, Damnagar and Talalgir mandis recorded impressive rates of up to ₹3,000 per quintal for premium-quality tomatoes.

For farmers, the day brought mixed signals some markets witnessed price drops, while others touched record levels.

Tomato Prices in Maharashtra:

  1. Parshivni Mandi: Arrival of 1.1 tonnes. Local variety sold between ₹1,400 and ₹1,600 per quintal. Prices remained stable due to normal inflow.
  2. Patan Mandi: Arrival of 0.7 tonnes (Other variety). Prices ranged from ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 per quintal, with better rates for superior quality produce.
  3. Pune (Moshi) Mandi: Recorded the highest arrival at 66.1 tonnes. Local tomatoes sold between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 per quintal. Heavy arrivals led to softer prices.
  4. Pune (Pimpri) Mandi: Arrival of 1 tonne. Local tomato ranged ₹1,000 to ₹1,400 per quintal, with stable price movements.
  5. Shirdapur Mandi: Arrival of 2.6 tonnes (Other variety). Prices stayed between ₹1,200 and ₹1,500 per quintal. Moderate buying observed.
  6. Wai Mandi: Arrival of 2 tonnes. Local tomatoes sold between ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 per quintal, depending on quality.

Tomato Price in Madhya Pradesh:

  1. Jawra (F&V) Mandi: Arrival of 0.81 tonnes. Tomato prices ranged from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per quintal, with premium quality receiving stronger bids.
  2. Sagar (F&V) Mandi: Arrival of 5.8 tonnes of desi variety. Prices remained lower at ₹800 to ₹1,000 per quintal compared to other markets.

Tomato Prices in Gujarat

  1. Damnagar Mandi: Only 0.07 tonnes arrived, yet prices surged to ₹1,800–₹3,000 per quintal due to extremely low supply.
  2. Gondal (Vegetable) Mandi: Heavy arrival of 35.62 tonnes. Tomatoes sold between ₹800 and ₹2,000 per quintal. Trading remained active.
  3. Padra Mandi: Arrival of 6.5 tonnes (Other variety). Prices stood at ₹1,000–₹1,500 per quintal.
  4. Rajkot (Sub Yard) Mandi: Heavy arrival at 178 tonnes among the highest in Gujarat today. Prices were at ₹1,055–₹1,840 per quintal, under pressure due to oversupply.
  5. Surat Mandi: Highest arrival in India today at 395 tonnes. Other variety sold between ₹600 and ₹1,500 per quintal heavy supply weakened rates.
  6. Talalgir Mandi: Arrival of 0.53 tonnes. Prices stayed strong at ₹1,000–₹2,500 per quintal, supported by low arrival and good quality.

Advice for Farmers:

  1. Best Selling Today: Damnagar & Talalgir (Gujarat) and Jawra (MP) offered the strongest rates selling here is profitable.
  2. Markets to Avoid for Now: Heavy-arrival mandis like Pune Moshi, Surat, and Rajkot showed weak prices storing stock may fetch better returns later.
  3. Selling high-quality tomatoes in selected premium mandis can fetch ₹2,500–₹3,000 per quintal.
