Tomato prices across India witnessed sharp fluctuations today, leaving farmers and traders with mixed outcomes. While some markets offered record-breaking profits, others saw steep declines.

Haryana’s Bhiwani market, tomato prices touched an all-time high of ₹5102 per quintal, while in Maharashtra’s Mangal Vedha, rates dropped drastically to just ₹100 per quintal. Heavy arrivals in Delhi and Gujarat kept prices under pressure, whereas limited arrivals in Ambala, Hansi, and Ballabhgarh pushed prices higher almost like “red gold” in these markets.

For farmers and traders, knowing where prices are strong and where they are falling is essential for maximizing returns. Here’s the state-wise and market-wise tomato price update for 09 September 2025.

Farmer Advisory:

  1. Sell immediately in high-price, low-supply markets such as Bhiwani, Hansi, Ambala City, and Ballabhgarh to secure strong profits.
  2. Avoid bulk selling in high-supply markets like Delhi and Gujarat, where prices are likely to remain under pressure.
  3. Farmers in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, where prices are between ₹1000–1500/qtl, should store their produce if facilities are available instead of selling at low rates.
  4. With the festive season approaching, demand is expected to rise in the coming weeks farmers with quality produce may benefit from holding stocks.
