Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Encouraging Farmers for Soil Testing and Scientific Farming

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was launched on May 29, 2025, and will continue until June 12, 2025. The primary objective of this campaign is to enhance farmers’ productivity and income by educating them about scientific agricultural practices, innovations, and government schemes.

Scientific Teams Reaching Villages
Under this campaign, teams of agricultural scientists are visiting villages to train farmers in modern farming techniques. In Rewa and Mauganj districts, various teams directly interacted with farmers and conducted training sessions in different development blocks.

Villages Covered Under the Campaign:
Rewa District: Baragaon, Baghmada, and Karondi in Raipur Karchuliyan block
Jawa Block: Chadhana, Badhachh, and Khara
Gangev Block: Kaindla, Dudki, and Dihiya
Mauganj District (Hanumana Block): Tattihara, Dhaunsar, and Tanduavelan

Special Emphasis on Soil Testing
The scientists stressed the importance of soil testing, stating that it is essential for assessing soil fertility and crop productivity. Through soil testing, farmers can learn about the levels of nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, enabling them to apply fertilizers in a balanced manner. This not only boosts crop quality and yield but also reduces fertilizer costs and supports environmental conservation.

Guidelines for Collecting Soil Samples:
Collect soil from 8–10 different locations of the field at a depth of 15 cm.
Mix the samples thoroughly and prepare about 500 grams of soil.
Avoid sampling from areas near compost heaps, under trees, or where waterlogging occurs.
Submit the sample to the local agriculture officer or the nearest soil testing laboratory.

Appeal to Farmers:
Agricultural experts urged farmers to conduct soil testing at least one month before sowing. This practice will play a significant role in enhancing agricultural income and maintaining long-term soil fertility. For more information, farmers are encouraged to contact their local agriculture department or soil testing center.
