‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ Set to Begin, Innovation to Reach 15 Million Farmers

Under the leadership of Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be launched across the country from May 29, 2025. The campaign will commence from the holy city of Puri in Odisha, where the Union Minister will be present at the inaugural event. This 15-day nationwide initiative will continue until June 12, 2025, during which the Minister will visit around 20 states, engaging directly with farmers, agricultural scientists, and experts.

Campaign Objective: From ‘Lab to Land’ Towards ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
The campaign is a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Lab to Land” by promoting the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies and fostering innovation across the farming sector. The broader goal is to contribute meaningfully to the vision of a Developed India by 2047 (Viksit Bharat 2047).

2,170 Teams to Reach 65,000 Villages and 15 Million Farmers
As part of this initiative, 2,170 teams will be deployed across more than 700 districts, reaching over 65,000 villages and engaging with nearly 1.5 crore (15 million) farmers. These teams will educate farmers on region-specific best practices for Kharif crops, disseminate information about central government schemes, promote the effective use of Soil Health Cards, and emphasize balanced fertilizer management.

Extensive Tour Across 20 States by the Union Minister
Following the campaign launch in Odisha, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will tour multiple states including Jammu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh. Throughout this journey, he will interact with farmers, agricultural scientists, and officials from state agriculture departments.

Participation from Agricultural Institutions Nationwide
The campaign is being jointly organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, in collaboration with state governments. All 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 113 ICAR institutes will take part in the initiative, along with officials from state departments of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, as well as progressive farmers and other agricultural stakeholders.

Identifying Innovations and Shaping Research Priorities
During the campaign, scientific teams will visit rural areas to engage in direct dialogues with farmers, understand their challenges, and identify grassroots innovations. This participatory approach will help reorient agricultural research to meet on-ground realities, paving the way for sustainable and prosperous farming.
