The Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan is set to celebrate its 263rd Foundation Day in a grand and distinctive manner this year. Under the ‘Panch Gaurav Abhiyan’, the district will host the Guava Festival and Advanced Agricultural Technology Fair 2026 on January 18 and 19 at the Dussehra Ground. The event aims to strengthen the district’s agricultural identity, promote farmer self-reliance, and establish farming as a profitable and sustainable enterprise.
According to the district administration, the two-day festival will be organized under the guidance of Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena. Farmers from Sawai Madhopur and neighboring districts are expected to participate in large numbers, with an estimated over 10,000 farmers attending daily.
District Collector Kana Ram stated that guava farming in Sawai Madhopur has evolved beyond traditional agriculture and has emerged as a strong commercial model. At present, nearly 20,000 farmers in the district are engaged in commercial guava cultivation across approximately 15,000 hectares of land. The district produces around 400,000 metric tonnes of guava annually, with an estimated market value of nearly ₹6 billion.
Due to rising demand and attractive market prices, guava cultivation has become a reliable source of income for farmers. The Guava Festival is being organized to further enhance these opportunities and provide national and global recognition to the district’s guava production.
More than 150 stalls will be set up at the Dussehra Ground during the festival. These stalls will showcase advanced guava varieties, processed guava products, and high-quality planting material. Farmers will also gain exposure to smart farming models, hi-tech horticulture, organic and natural farming practices, agricultural mechanization, and modern farming equipment through live demonstrations.
Outstanding guava-producing farmers will be honored during the event. In addition, farmers will get the opportunity to directly interact with agricultural scientists and agri-startups, enabling on-the-spot solutions to farming-related challenges.
To give the festival a national platform, renowned institutions such as ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, APEDA, CIPHET Ludhiana, CISH Lucknow, and Hisar Agricultural University are being invited to participate. Experts from these institutions will share valuable insights on advanced farming techniques, processing, storage, and market linkages.
On the occasion of the Sawai Madhopur Foundation Day, a series of three-day cultural and social events will be held from January 17 to 19:
A Golden Opportunity for Farmers and the District: The district administration believes that the Guava Festival will serve as a strong platform to connect farmers with modern agricultural practices while also enhancing Sawai Madhopur’s agricultural, cultural, and tourism identity.
