IMD weather alert: heavy rainfall forecast across several states from august 13–19; MP, Chhattisgarh, UP and Bihar on alert

Isolated pockets of East Madhya Pradesh may receive very heavy rainfall on August 15–16, while similar conditions are possible in Chhattisgarh on August 13–14. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh from August 13–16.

Rainfall Activity to Continue Across Northwest India:

Several parts of Northwest India are also likely to remain wet during the forecast period. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand may receive widespread rainfall from August 13–19. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab are likely to receive rain at several places on August 14–15. West Uttar Pradesh may experience rainfall on August 15, while East Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive widespread rain from August 14–19. Rain is also possible over East Rajasthan on August 13. Thunderstorms and lightning may occur across Uttarakhand during the week, while Uttar Pradesh could experience similar weather on August 13–14.

East Uttar Pradesh may remain particularly active from August 13–19. Himachal Pradesh could receive rainfall on August 13 and again during August 15–19, while Uttarakhand may see rain on August 13, 15, 18 and 19.

Heavy to Extremely Heavy Rain Possible in Eastern India:

Monsoon activity is expected to remain vigorous across eastern India. Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are likely to receive widespread rainfall from August 13–19. West Bengal and Jharkhand may witness widespread rainfall during the period, while Bihar is likely to receive widespread rain from August 14–19. Odisha may experience widespread rainfall between August 13 and 15.

Maharashtra and Gujarat Likely to Receive More Rain:

Rainfall activity is expected to remain significant over parts of western India. Konkan & Goa may receive widespread rainfall throughout August 13–19. Several parts of Madhya Maharashtra could receive rain on August 13–14, while Gujarat is likely to experience rainfall on August 13. Heavy rainfall is possible over Madhya Maharashtra on August 13, 15 and 16, with very heavy rainfall forecast on August 14. Marathwada and Saurashtra & Kutch may receive scattered to widespread rainfall during August 13–19, while Gujarat is expected to see similar rainfall activity from August 14–19.
