The strongest price momentum today was seen in Ara mandi (Bihar), where Jyoti variety potatoes sold between ₹1,800 and ₹2,000 per quintal. Despite good arrivals of 75 tonnes, Motihari mandi maintained stable prices between ₹1,300 and ₹1,500, indicating healthy demand.

In contrast, Morena mandi in Madhya Pradesh recorded the lowest prices of the day, with minimum rates falling to ₹400 per quintal. Similarly, prices in Junnar (Otur), Maharashtra ranged widely from ₹300 to ₹1,000, mainly due to quality issues.

From an arrivals perspective, Pune APMC received the highest supply at nearly 897 tonnes. Due to this heavy inflow, minimum prices dropped to ₹500, although good-quality lots still achieved up to ₹2,200 per quintal. Keshopur mandi (Delhi) also saw arrivals exceeding 154 tonnes, keeping prices under pressure.

Practical Advice for Farmers

  1. Farmers with good-quality Jyoti variety potatoes should prefer selling in Bihar mandis such as Ara and Motihari for better returns.
  2. Pune and Delhi, heavy arrivals may keep prices under pressure, especially for average-quality produce.
  3. Current prices in Madhya Pradesh (Morena, Porsa) are quite low if storage facilities are available, avoid distress selling.
  4. With a possible improvement in demand over the coming days, planned or phased selling could help farmers achieve better prices.
