The Government of Madhya Pradesh has announced a major initiative to strengthen agriculture-based industries through the establishment of PM MITRA Park in Dhar district. This upcoming industrial hub is expected to bring transformative change to the lives of cotton and silk-producing farmers across the state.
As part of this broader strategy, the government has directed departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries to work in coordination and organize multi-purpose agricultural fairs. These fairs will provide farmers with vital information on profitable marketing and sale of their crops and allied products.
The under-construction PM MITRA Park will directly benefit over 6 lakh farmers and create more than 3 lakh employment opportunities — including 1 lakh direct and 2 lakh indirect jobs. The state government stated that leading national and international companies have shown strong interest in investing in the park, signaling confidence in Madhya Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem.
This enthusiasm from investors is a positive indicator for the state’s economic development and a motivating factor for the government to further improve its business environment.
The PM MITRA Park is poised to become a boon for farmers, especially in the Malwa region, where cotton is extensively grown. The park will ensure local-level processing and consumption of cotton, significantly increasing farmers’ income and boosting rural employment.
The state government has assured that all necessary facilities and support will be provided to investors, reinforcing its commitment to fostering public-private partnerships for holistic national development.
Out of the seven PM MITRA Parks approved across India, Madhya Pradesh is set to become the first state to begin construction. Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the foundation stone for the country’s first and largest PM MITRA Park will be laid on 17th September in Bhainsola village, Dhar district.
The park will feature an integrated textile value chain, right from cotton to yarn, yarn to fabric, and fabric to finished garments – including hosiery and all-weather clothing. This will give a major boost to the cotton industry in the state, positioning Madhya Pradesh as a national hub for textile manufacturing.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed satisfaction that land allotment has been completed even before the foundation ceremony. Of the 114 companies that applied for land to invest in the park, 91 companies have already been allotted 1,294.19 acres.
Simultaneously, infrastructure development work is progressing rapidly. The companies that have received land are also beginning to set up their manufacturing units. It is expected that production will begin within the next 12 to 18 months.
Driving Growth in Agro-Based Industries: The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting the PM MITRA Park in a way that it also encourages growth across other agriculture-based industries in the state. He added that the park will serve not just as a textile manufacturing hub but as a model for integrated agricultural and industrial development in Madhya Pradesh.
