PMMVY Registration Date Extended

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the special registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) till August 15, 2025. This ongoing door-to-door awareness and enrolment campaign is being conducted with the help of Anganwadi and ASHA workers. The key objective is to ensure timely registration of all eligible pregnant and lactating women under the scheme.

Objective: Supporting Maternal Nutrition and Health:

The scheme aims to improve nutrition and health-seeking behaviour among pregnant and lactating women. It also promotes a positive outlook towards the girl child. Under PMMVY, financial assistance is provided to support a healthy diet and to partially compensate for wage loss before and after the birth of the first child.

₹19,028 Crores Disbursed to Over 4.05 Crore Women:

Since its inception and till 31st July 2025, over 4.05 crore women have benefited from the scheme, receiving at least one instalment. A total amount of ₹19,028 crore has been disbursed directly into their bank or post office accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Key Features of PMMVY:

PMMVY is a centrally sponsored scheme under the 'Samarthya' sub-scheme of Mission Shakti.
It offers:

  • ₹5,000 in two instalments for the first live birth.
  • ₹6,000 in a single instalment for the second girl child, post-delivery.

Transparent and Efficient Delivery via Digital Platform:

The scheme is implemented through the new PMMVYSoft portal, launched in March 2023, which enables:

  • Aadhaar authentication through UIDAI and verification by NPCI.
  • Direct payment to Aadhaar-seeded DBT accounts.
  • An Integrated Grievance Redressal Module.
  • A Multilingual Toll-Free Helpline (14408).
  • Facial Recognition System (FRS) for biometric verification.
  • A "Due List" of potential beneficiaries for proactive outreach.

Govt Commitment: Reaching Every Eligible Mother: The Ministry has instructed all States and Union Territories to intensify efforts so that no eligible woman is left out. This scheme stands as a significant initiative towards improving maternal and child health across the country.
