The registration process for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for Kharif crops is now open. Farmers can enrol for crop insurance until 31st July 2025. Launched by the Government of India, PMFBY is a flagship scheme aimed at safeguarding farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities, pests, or diseases. With a minimal premium, it offers financial protection and peace of mind to farmers across the country.
All cultivators and sharecroppers growing notified crops in notified areas are eligible. The scheme is now voluntary, meaning farmers can opt for it as per their choice.
