Madhya Pradesh’s wholesale onion market witnessed a sharp decline in prices during November 2025. The state’s average wholesale rate stood at ₹880.51 per quintal, significantly lower than previous months. While a few districts showed stable or slightly improved prices, most regions recorded a steep fall, putting the overall onion market under bearish pressure.
A comparison with November 2024 shows a mixed trend, where prices in some districts had crossed ₹4,000 per quintal, while several others had dropped below ₹1,000. This year, however, the decline was widespread, affecting both farmers and traders.
Among all districts, Satna remained the only region to report the highest average price ₹2,500 per quintal. Strong local demand and the arrival of high-quality produce supported the elevated price levels in the district.
Wholesale onion rates fell sharply in Bhopal (₹625.32), Dewas (₹415.05), and Mandsaur (₹410.93), where prices remained between ₹500–₹650 per quintal. Heavy arrivals, reduced demand, and inferior crop quality were the major factors behind the drop.
These figures were far below the state average. Abundant supply and sluggish trading activity pushed prices to historic lows in these districts.
Despite the overall downturn, a few regions witnessed stronger price trends due to better-quality arrivals and good demand. Notable among them were:
These markets, prices ranged between ₹1,200–₹1,600 per quintal, reflecting positive trade sentiment.
Several districts recorded moderate rates between ₹450–₹700 per quintal, indicating oversupply and soft demand:
These rates further contributed to the state’s low overall average for the month.
Statewide Average Drops to ₹880.51 per Quintal: With many markets under pressure, the state’s average wholesale onion price settled at just ₹880.51 per quintal in November 2025. The large gap between high and low price bands indicates uneven market conditions driven by quality variations, supply imbalances, and inconsistent demand.
