Bumper Subsidy on Bamboo Farming, Applications Open for National Bamboo Mission Scheme 2024-25

The changing landscape of Indian agriculture, new farming alternatives are opening up fresh avenues of prosperity for farmers. In this direction, the government has launched a special initiative under the National Bamboo Mission (NBM) to empower farmers economically. For the year 2024-25, the scheme is being implemented in seven districts of Bihar, with the objective of promoting High-Density Bamboo Plantation on limited land.

This scheme, farmers will receive financial assistance, technical guidance, and market linkage support for bamboo cultivation. If you are looking to earn high profits from a small piece of land, this scheme could be a golden opportunity.

Where Will the Scheme Be Implemented?

The National Bamboo Mission 2024-25 will be implemented in the following seven districts of Bihar:

  1. Araria
  2. Katihar
  3. Kishanganj
  4. Purnia
  5. Madhepura
  6. Saharsa
  7. Supaul

Farmers residing in these districts are eligible to apply for the scheme.

Land Requirements for Bamboo Farming:

  1. Minimum: 0.1 acre (0.04 hectares)
  2. Maximum: 0.5 acre (0.2 hectares)

Farmers can apply for bamboo cultivation within this land range.

Eligibility Criteria: Only land-owning farmers (Raiyat farmers) are eligible to benefit from the scheme. Applicants must submit valid land ownership documents during the application process. If a farmer’s name is not clearly mentioned in the land records or revenue receipt, a lineage certificate (वंशावली प्रमाणपत्र) must also be provided.

Bank Account and Registration Requirements: Interested farmers must ensure that their bank account is registered under the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system. It is mandatory to verify and update bank details before applying.

Beneficiary Selection Criteria:

  1. General Category: 78.56%
  2. Scheduled Caste (SC): 20%
  3. Scheduled Tribe (ST): 1.44%

Addition, 30% of the beneficiaries in each category will be reserved for women.

How to Apply Online:

  1. Visit the official website of the Bihar Horticulture Department: https://horticulture.bihar.gov.in/
  2. Fill in the required details including personal and land information.
  3. Upload the necessary documents.

After submitting the application, selected beneficiaries under the Farming Bed Scheme and Pot Scheme will receive their bank account details and other necessary information for depositing their contribution amount.
