Madhya Pradesh is once again reeling under an intense heatwave as temperatures have soared beyond 46°C in several parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for 15 districts on Wednesday, with extreme heat conditions expected to persist across other regions.
According to IMD, districts likely to be affected by heatwave conditions on Wednesday include Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Guna, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Neemuch, and Mandsaur. In addition, major cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur are expected to witness high temperatures.
Heatwave in Some Areas, Thunderstorm Alert in Others: While northern and central parts of the state are facing scorching heat, southeastern districts such as Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Anuppur, and Shahdol may experience dust storms and light rainfall, as per the IMD forecast.
On Tuesday, June 11, Chhatarpur recorded the highest temperature of 46°C, closely followed by Nowgong at 45.9°C. Other cities like Narmadapuram, Guna, Khajuraho, Tikamgarh, and Sagar also recorded temperatures of 45°C or above, indicating widespread heat stress.
Heatwave Conditions in 28 Cities across the State: A total of 28 cities in Madhya Pradesh recorded temperatures exceeding 40°C on Tuesday. Among major cities, Gwalior was the hottest at 44.6°C, followed by Bhopal (43.4°C), Ujjain (43°C), Jabalpur (42.5°C), and Indore (40.4°C). Shivpuri recorded 44°C, while Damoh, Shajapur, Satna, and Ratlam saw temperatures rising above 43°C. Only Pachmarhi, a hill station, remained relatively cool at 37.4°C.
