The monsoon has regained momentum in Madhya Pradesh, triggering widespread rainfall across the state. On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued alerts for 41 districts, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Out of these, 5 districts are under Red Alert, 21 under Orange Alert, and 14 under Yellow Alert. Extremely heavy rainfall, exceeding 8 inches, is likely within the next 24 hours in Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Satna, and Rewa, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.

Widespread Impact from Capital to Rural Areas:

The state capital Bhopal has been witnessing continuous rain since Friday night. Prior to this, several northern districts of Madhya Pradesh recorded heavy showers throughout the day. The IMD has forecast intense rainfall across the state for the next three to four days.

Rain in Over 30 Districts; Dam Gates Opened:

  1. More than 30 districts received significant rainfall on Friday.
  2. Sidhi recorded 4.8 inches of rainfall within just 9 hours.
  3. Pachmarhi received 1.5 inches, while Umaria, Malajkhand, Chhindwara, and Guna recorded around 0.75 inches.
  4. Sagar, Gwalior, and Narmadapuram received around 0.5 inches each.
  5. The heavy rains have caused a sharp rise in water levels at major reservoirs.
  6. 7 gates of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur have been opened.
  7. 7 gates of Satpura Dam in Betul’s Sarni have also been released.
  8. In Morena, the Pagara Dam has crossed the danger level of 655.88 feet, automatically triggering the opening of all six automated gates.

Three Trough Lines, Two Cyclonic Circulations, and a Depression Behind the Rain:

According to Dr. Divya E. Surendran, Senior Scientist at the IMD, the intense rainfall is due to the activation of three trough lines, two cyclonic circulations, and one depression system over the region. These systems are likely to remain active for the next four days, continuing to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of the state.
