Madhya Pradesh government has taken two major decisions aimed at strengthening both agriculture and social welfare. The state cabinet has approved an outlay of over ₹4,800 crore for the “Pulses Self-Reliance Mission” and the expansion of Anganwadi infrastructure along with the implementation of Mission Vatsalya.
To enhance pulses production in the state, ₹2,442.04 crore has been sanctioned for a five-year period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. The Department of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development has been entrusted with issuing guidelines and ensuring smooth implementation of the scheme.
This mission is part of a broader national effort to make India self-reliant in pulses production. Launched on October 11, 2025, it has been approved by the central government as a focused initiative. Under the scheme, emphasis will be placed on expanding the cultivation area of pulses, increasing productivity, and providing farmers with climate-resilient, high-quality seeds. In addition, post-harvest practices such as processing, storage, and crop management technologies will be actively promoted.
The mission will support breeder seed production, seed distribution, field demonstrations, and farmer training programs. It also aims to strengthen post-harvest infrastructure, including processing and packaging units, helping farmer’s access better markets and improve price realization.
Social sector, the government has approved ₹2,412 crore for the construction of new and incomplete Anganwadi centres and for the effective implementation of Mission Vatsalya. A total of 1,500 new Anganwadi centres will be constructed across the state during the 16th Finance Commission period (2026–27 to 2030–31), with ₹1,800 crore earmarked for this purpose. Additionally, ₹606.68 crore has been allocated for Mission Vatsalya operations and ₹5 crore for sanitation initiatives.
Stronger Child Protection and Development Framework:
Under the integrated child protection framework, children in need of care and those in conflict with the law will receive support in the form of nutrition, education, shelter, and protection. The initiative also focuses on rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring a safer and more secure future for vulnerable children.
