The Indore district administration has ramped up preparations for the procurement of moong (green gram) at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). A joint meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Collector Mr. Ashish Singh, involving officials from the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), farmer organizations, and trader representatives. The discussions focused on ensuring a transparent, well-organized, and farmer-friendly procurement process.

Collector Mr. Singh instructed that no inconvenience should be caused to farmers at procurement centers. He directed the installation of large weighing scales in markets, emphasized complete transparency in the weighing process, and called for timely arrangements for basic amenities such as sanitation, drinking water, and shade. He made it clear that any negligence in procurement operations will not be tolerated.

Cantonment Market to Be Relocated for Better Accessibility:

The meeting also discussed relocating the existing cantonment-based agricultural market to a more accessible and suitable location. Officials informed that the relocation process is progressing swiftly, which will benefit both farmers and traders by easing transportation and accelerating procurement activities.

Instant Solutions to Raised Concerns:

Farmer organizations and trader representatives raised several operational issues related to market management, which were addressed on the spot. Additional Collector Mr. Gaurav Banal, Mr. Rinkesh Vaishya, and Market Secretary Mr. Naresh Parmar were present at the meeting. The Market Secretary provided a detailed update on the administrative preparations for moong procurement.

The district administration assured all stakeholders that it is fully committed to ensuring farmers receive fair and timely payment for their produce and that the procurement process remains smooth and transparent.

Union Agriculture Minister to Interact with Soybean Farmers:

Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is scheduled to visit the Indian Institute of Soybean Research in Indore on June 26. During his visit, he will engage in direct dialogue with soybean farmers, industrial stakeholders, NGOs, and other key participants.
