The southwest monsoon has regained strength across Madhya Pradesh, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state. Various levels of weather warnings have been sounded for Thursday, particularly for the western, central, and eastern regions, with the next 24 hours expected to bring intense weather activity.

Districts on High Rainfall Alert:

According to the IMD, heavy downpours are expected in districts such as Neemuch, Mandsaur, Dhar, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Satna, Maihar, Panna, Seoni, and Mandla. Meanwhile, Balaghat and Alirajpur have been placed under an orange alert for the likelihood of very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has also been issued for cities including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, indicating chances of moderate rain.

Dip in Temperatures Across the State:

As rainfall activity has increased, both daytime and nighttime temperatures have dropped significantly. On Wednesday, Sidhi recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 35.8°C. In contrast, Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district logged the lowest minimum temperature at 17.2°C, offering some respite from the earlier heat.

Delayed Monsoon Now Accelerating:

Though the monsoon arrived early over southern parts of the country this year almost eight days ahead of schedule it reached Madhya Pradesh later than expected. Initial projections indicated its activation in the first week of June. However, active rainfall systems only began to build momentum recently, and conditions have now become favorable for widespread showers across the state.

Rainfall Likely in Western India as Well: Besides Madhya Pradesh, several western states are also under rain watch. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, the hilly areas of central Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat, and regions including Saurashtra and Kutch. These regions could witness continued wet conditions with light to moderate showers over the next seven days.

Public Advised to Stay Alert: In light of the current weather patterns, the IMD has urged residents, particularly in alert-affected districts, to remain cautious. Travelers, farmers, and local authorities have been advised to monitor official weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of heightened rainfall.
