Manoj Kashyap, Deputy Director of Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development, informed that sowing targets have been set for various crops for the Kharif season 2025 in the district. With favorable weather conditions and timely onset of rainfall, farmers have begun sowing paddy using the DSR (Direct Seeded Rice) method. Additionally, around 5,800 hectares of paddy nurseries are being prepared across the district.

Kharif Crop Sowing Targets (in Hectares):

  1. Paddy: 2,57,000 ha
  2. Jowar: 2,000 ha
  3. Maize: 530 ha
  4. Kodo-Kutki: 9,100 ha
  5. Arhar (Tur): 7,800 ha
  6. Urad (Black Gram): 32,200 ha
  7. Moong (Green Gram): 3,300 ha

  10. Other Oilseeds: 220 ha

So far, sowing has been completed on approximately 5 to 6 percent of the targeted area. Currently, the time is suitable for sowing pulses and oilseed crops.

Seed Availability and Distribution:

Farmers can procure quality seeds from MP State Seeds and Farm Development Corporation, Government Agriculture Farm Gahwara, Seed Producer Cooperative Societies, and registered private vendors. Under government schemes, free mini-kits of Arhar and Urad seeds are being distributed at the block level, and the distribution process is ongoing.

Demonstration Programs and Scheme Targets:

  1. Arhar Cluster Demonstration: 1,120 ha
  2. Urad Cluster Demonstration: 600 ha
  3. Moong Cluster Demonstration: 850 ha
  4. Cropping System Demonstration: 275 ha
  5. Intercropping Demonstration: 570 ha

the National Mission on Edible Oils:

  1. Soybean Block Demonstration: 20 ha
  2. Sesame Block Demonstration: 160 ha

Seeds for these demonstration programs have been stocked at the block level. Farmers are required to register on the MP Kisan Portal to avail benefits under these schemes. Since seeds are available in limited quantities, distribution is based on a “first come, first served” basis.

Fertilizer Availability:

Sufficient quantities of fertilizers have been stocked through cooperative and private institutions in the district:

  1. Urea: 4,307 metric tonnes
  2. NPK: 2,760 metric tonnes
  3. DAP: 646 metric tonnes
  4. Single Super Phosphate (SSP): 2,458 metric tonnes
  5. Muriate of Potash (MOP): 62 metric tonnes

The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to arrange seeds and fertilizers in a timely manner and complete their registrations soon to avail scheme benefits efficiently.
