Kharif Crop Insurance Deadline Extended – Check New Last Dates & Key Details

August 9, 2025 – Farmers have received welcome news as the deadline to insure Kharif crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has been extended.

According to the Agriculture Development Department:

• Non-loanee farmers now have time till August 14, 2025
• Loanee farmers can insure their crops till August 30, 2025

If you haven’t yet insured your crops, this is a golden opportunity. Timely insurance ensures your hard-earned investment is protected against bad weather, floods, drought, and other disasters.

Special Instructions for KCC Holders:

Farmers who have taken a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and whose insurance is processed through their bank should immediately contact their bank if, for any reason, the insurance has not yet been done.

Non-Loanee & Uninsured Farmers – Don’t Wait for the Last Date:

1. Aadhaar Card (linked with mobile number)
2. Affidavit in case of leased (batai) land
3. Land ownership/tenancy record (Bhu-Adhikar Rin Pustika / Khasra-Khatauni)
4. Bank Passbook
5. Sowing Certificate (issued by Patwari, Panchayat Secretary, or Agriculture Extension Officer)
6. Farmer ID

Agriculture Department’s Appeal: The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to insure their Kharif crops without delay. Under PMFBY, compensation is provided if crops are damaged or yield is reduced due to adverse weather, floods, drought, or other causes.
