In a major step towards digital empowerment of farmers, the Haryana government has launched a new initiative for cotton growers. Now, farmers can verify their cotton crop details online and book slots to sell their produce under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme all from the comfort of their homes. The government has introduced the “Kapas Kisan App”, which is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure that cotton farmers receive the full MSP for their produce in a timely and transparent manner. According to a government spokesperson, the app has been developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), a Government of India enterprise, for the procurement of the 2025–26 cotton season. Through the app, farmers can verify their details and book a slot at the nearest procurement center.
Farmers can download the Kapas Kisan App and log in using the mobile number registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) portal through a One-Time Password (OTP). The app automatically cross-verifies the farmer’s cotton cultivation details with records from the MFMB portal. Once verification is complete, farmers can book their slot at the nearest CCI procurement center. The app will also display the date and time for selling the crop, saving farmers from long queues and delays at procurement centers.
The Kapas Kisan App will not only provide farmers with the benefits of the MSP scheme but also make the entire procurement process more transparent and efficient. Farmers can now ensure that their crop data is accurate and that every stage of the sales process is digitally recorded. CCI has urged farmers to bring only well-dried cotton to the procurement centers, with moisture levels not exceeding 12%, to receive the proper MSP rate. The corporation will purchase only Fair Average Quality (FAQ) cotton.
The Kapas Kisan App marks another milestone in Haryana’s efforts to digitally empower its farmers. With this initiative, farmers will no longer need to visit government offices repeatedly. Using just a smartphone, they can complete all formalities related to their fields, crops, and sales. The government believes that this digital system will reduce corruption and eliminate middlemen, ensuring that farmers receive their rightful benefits directly. This initiative is not only a time-saving reform but also a significant step toward increasing farmers’ income and promoting digital transformation in the agriculture sector.
