December chill has tightened its grip across the country, and temperatures are expected to dip further in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert for the next 4–5 days, warning of severe cold conditions, dense fog, and strong north-westerly winds in several states. Regions from North India to the Northeast and Central India may witness a sharp drop in temperatures.
According to the IMD:
Bihar has already started feeling the impact of the cold wave. Maximum Temperature: 20.7°C , Minimum Temperature: 7.6°C. The IMD predicts dry weather across Bihar today, with clear skies and sunshine throughout the day. Light fog may appear in some districts during early morning hours, but conditions will improve as the day progresses. While northern Bihar experienced a slight rise in daytime temperatures, southern Bihar recorded a drop in maximum temperatures.
Delhi is expected to witness clear skies and sunshine today, but the air quality remains in the ‘poor’ category. The combination of cold weather and pollution continues to trouble residents, leading to discomfort and health concerns.
Cold Tightens Grip on Uttar Pradesh: Several districts in Uttar Pradesh remain in the grip of a cold wave, with temperatures dropping steadily. Eastern and central UP are experiencing a stronger impact of cold and fog.
Continuous snowfall in the Himalayan regions has contributed to a noticeable increase in winter chill across the plains. The IMD has indicated a further decline in temperatures in the coming days.
Some parts of eastern UP may also witness light to moderate fog, especially during early morning hours.
