Weather Takes a Turn: Rain and Snow Alert in Hilly States, Dense Fog Likely in Several Regions Till February 10

Weather conditions across India are once again showing a noticeable shift. According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall and snowfall activity is expected to intensify in the hilly regions over the coming days, which may further strengthen the cold conditions. At the same time, fluctuations in temperature along with dense fog are likely to affect several parts of the plains. The IMD has advised people to remain alert as weather conditions may vary across regions in the next few days.

Cold to Intensify in Hilly States; Rain and Snowfall Alert Issued:

As per the IMD forecast, isolated spells of rain and snowfall are likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on February 11. Meanwhile, from February 9 to 11, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may witness scattered to widespread rainfall and snowfall at several locations.

Weather activity is expected to be more intense on February 10 over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh. During this period, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph are likely to occur.

Weather Outlook for the Next Seven Days:

According to IMD, minimum temperatures over Northwest India may gradually rise by around 2°C during the next two days. This may be followed by a drop of about 2°C over the subsequent two days, after which no major change in temperature is expected for the next three days.

Central India, minimum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged over the next 24 hours. However, a gradual rise of 2 to 4°C may be observed over the following four days, with stable conditions expected thereafter.

Over Maharashtra, minimum temperatures are expected to remain steady during the next 24 hours. This may be followed by a fall of 2 to 3°C over the next two days, after which temperatures may rise again by a similar margin. No significant change in minimum temperatures is anticipated across the remaining parts of the country.

Dense Fog Warning Till February 10 in Several States:

IMD has issued a warning for dense to very dense fog in parts of Uttar Pradesh during morning and night hours till February 10. Similar fog conditions are also likely at isolated places in Uttarakhand during the same period.

Addition, isolated spells of dense fog may occur during morning hours over North Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh till February 10. Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya are expected to experience dense fog conditions till February 9.
