The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several states in the coming days. Parts of West Bengal may experience heatwave conditions until May 15. Similarly, heatwaves are expected to begin between May 13 and 15 in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and western Rajasthan. With temperatures rising, people are advised to stay cautious and take necessary precautions against the heat.
On May 13, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Some areas may also experience light to moderate showers. According to the IMD, conditions in these regions are becoming favourable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon.
Over the next five days, several areas in Northeast India are expected to see heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms. Rain is also likely in western, central, and southern peninsular regions. States like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry may receive light to moderate rainfall and strong winds between May 14 and 16.
The weather department has predicted strong winds and dust storms in Punjab weather, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and eastern Rajasthan. On May 16 and 17, Himachal Pradesh may also experience wind speeds of 30 to 50 km/h. Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert.
Temperature to Rise in Some Regions: According to IMD forecasts, maximum temperatures in northwestern India may rise by 2 to 4°C over the next five days. After that, no major change is expected for two days. In eastern India, temperatures are likely to remain steady initially and may drop by 2 to 3°C afterward. Maharashtra and Gujarat could see a gradual increase in temperature by 2 to 5°C in the coming days.
