Farming, considered the backbone of the rural economy, is rapidly becoming mechanized. Traditional tools are increasingly being replaced by modern tractor-operated agricultural equipment. This shift is helping farmers save time and labor while significantly boosting productivity.
According to Deputy Director of Agriculture, Mr. U.P. Bagri, tractor-operated rotavators and rotary tillers are highly effective for deep ploughing and weed control. With the help of a rotavator, farmers can turn the soil to deeper levels and adjust the tilling depth as per their requirements. The use of this equipment helps mix crop residues and weeds into the soil, breaking them into fine particles. After rainfall, these components act as green manure, which enhances soil fertility and moisture retention capacity.
Useful for Paddy Cultivation: Before transplanting paddy, rotavators are effectively used for land leveling and puddling (mud preparation). These machines perform best with tractors ranging from 35 to 55 horsepower.
Save Time and Labor: A rotavator can till approximately one hectare of land in just three hours, allowing for quicker completion of farming operations. Various models of rotavators are available in the market, and farmers can choose one based on their specific needs and the capacity of their tractors.
Subsidy Available for Purchase: To support farmers, the Agriculture Department is providing subsidies on the purchase of rotavators. Interested farmers can register on the e-Krishi Yantra Portal to avail themselves of this benefit.
