Weather conditions across North India have taken a sharp turn, bringing relief from the scorching heat and humidity. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert, warning that several states are likely to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days.
Starting August 22, a fresh spell of monsoon showers has begun in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities forecast widespread rainfall across the state, with heavy downpours expected in nearly 30 districts, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ballia, Deoria, Gonda, Bareilly, Jhansi, Mahoba, and Sonbhadra. Furthermore, on August 24 and 25, rainfall is likely to cover almost the entire state.
The national capital has also been placed under a heavy rainfall alert between August 22 and 25. Along with intense showers, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected during this period. Rising water levels in the Yamuna River have already caused waterlogging and flood-like situations in several parts of Delhi, prompting the administration to advise residents to remain cautious.
Bihar, the monsoon has intensified once again, with widespread rains forecasted between August 22 and 26. Southern and eastern districts of the state are likely to experience particularly heavy rainfall. The weather department has urged farmers to stay alert, avoid working in open fields during thunderstorms, and seek shelter in safe areas to protect themselves from lightning and heavy downpours.
Advisory for Public Safety: Officials have appealed to residents of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Bihar to exercise caution during this wet spell. People are advised to stay indoors unless necessary and to avoid areas prone to flooding, trees, and open fields during storms. With continuous heavy rainfall expected, the authorities warn that daily life may face disruptions, making vigilance the key to safety.
