The monsoon is currently in full swing across Madhya Pradesh, bringing continuous rainfall in most districts. Rivers and streams are in spate, and mid-August showers have left a mixed impact — while some farmers are hopeful for their crops, others are worried about potential damage. Daily life is also being affected. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued yet another heavy rain alert for the state.
According to the forecast, 24 districts of Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. These include Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Rajgarh, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Indore, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Jabalpur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Seoni, Narsinghpur and Katni.
Weather experts have indicated that due to multiple active weather systems, intermittent rainfall will continue across southern and western Madhya Pradesh for the next two to three days. On Wednesday and Thursday, districts under Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram and Jabalpur divisions may experience heavy rainfall at several places.
The Meteorological Department has highlighted that a strong active system is currently prevailing over the region. As a result, several districts are expected to witness torrential showers over the next two days.
Stronger Impact in Western and Southern MP: Meteorologists explained that the monsoon trough is passing through the western and southern parts of the state. Along with this, two cyclonic circulations, two troughs and a low-pressure area are active. These systems are responsible for continuous heavy rain in Indore and Ujjain divisions.
Advisory for Citizens: The department has cautioned that the next 48 hours will be critical for Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging, overflowing rivers and flood-like situations in several districts. Citizens have been advised to remain alert, take safety precautions, and stay protected against heavy rain and lightning strikes.
