Heavy Rainfall Threat for Next 7 Days – IMD Issues Major Alert for North-West India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a week-long heavy rainfall alert for several North-Western states, warning residents to brace for possible flooding, landslides, and lightning strikes. If you live in Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, or Jammu & Kashmir, be prepared — your umbrella and raincoat might be your best companions over the coming week.

Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi – Prolonged Rain Spell

  • Heavy rain is likely on August 10, 11, and 13–15, with isolated very heavy rainfall possible in some areas.

Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal & Uttarakhand – Risk of Severe Conditions

  • Jammu & Kashmir: Heavy rain on Aug 10 & 16, with extremely heavy rain expected between Aug 13–15.

  • Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rain on Aug 10, 15 & 16, with moderate to intense spells between Aug 11–14.

  • Uttarakhand: Thunderstorms and heavy rain from Aug 10–12 and Aug 14–16, with extremely heavy falls possible on Aug 13.

Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan – Monsoon Stays Active

  • Western UP: Heavy rain on Aug 10 & 16, moderate showers on Aug 13 & 15.

  • Eastern UP: Heavy rain on Aug 12 & 15, light to moderate rainfall on Aug 13–14.

  • Eastern Rajasthan: Heavy rainfall alert for Aug 15 & 16.

Lightning & Thunderstorm Risk

Widespread lightning and thunderstorms are expected in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Uttarakhand during the week. IMD advises the public to take shelter in safe locations during bad weather and avoid open areas.
