Haryana government has announced the start date for the procurement of wheat in the state. Under the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27, government procurement of wheat will commence from April 1. The state administration has completed extensive preparations to ensure that farmers can sell their produce smoothly without facing any inconvenience.

According to a spokesperson from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, a total of 416 mandis and procurement centres have been set up across the state in line with the guidelines issued by the central government. Wheat will be procured from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at these centres.

Procurement Arrangements in 416 Mandis:

Keeping farmers’ convenience in mind, the state government has designated 416 mandis and procurement centres in different districts of Haryana. Several government agencies will jointly manage the procurement process at these centres. These agencies include the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED), the Haryana Warehousing Corporation, and the Food Corporation of India (FCI). The objective is to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-organised procurement process for farmers.

Modern Facilities for Procurement Process:

To further strengthen transparency and efficiency, the government has upgraded the e-procurement portal this year. The updated system includes several modern technological features that are expected to improve services for farmers in mandis while also making the procurement process faster and more transparent.

Digital Monitoring to Ensure Transparency:

Rajesh Nagar, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that digital monitoring of vehicles arriving at mandis will be introduced this season. When farmers bring their wheat to the market yards, the vehicle’s registration number along with its photograph will be recorded. Vehicles without a visible registration number will not be allowed to enter the mandi premises and will not receive a gate pass. This measure aims to strengthen transparency in the procurement system.

Geo-Fencing Technology for Procurement Centres:

State government has also integrated mandis and procurement centres with geo-fencing technology. Under this system, key stages of the procurement process—such as issuing gate passes for arrivals, bidding, and the generation of the I-Form—can only be completed within the mandi or procurement centre premises. The use of this technology is expected to enhance transparency and significantly reduce the chances of irregularities.

Commitment to Farmers’ Interests: The minister stated that the Haryana government remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers. The administration will ensure that farmers face no difficulty in selling their produce and receive the rightful price for their crops in a timely manner. These measures are expected to make this year’s wheat procurement process more efficient and farmer-friendly.
