Farmers, if you’ve been storing your potato harvest and waiting for the right time to sell, today’s market report could be your golden opportunity. On June 28, 2025, several mandis in Gujarat and Rajasthan witnessed heavy arrivals of potatoes. Yet, the good news is that Gujarat’s mandis offered higher-than-expected rates.

In Surat, Navsari, and Padra mandis, despite heavy supply, potato prices touched impressive highs—ranging from ₹1900 to ₹2000 per quintal. This clearly indicates strong demand in these markets, and the latest mandi prices have brought smiles to the faces of many farmers.

On the other hand, the situation in Rajasthan was mixed. While mandis like Bassi and Rawatsar reached up to ₹2000 per quintal, major markets such as Sikar and Jaipur stayed lower, with prices stuck around ₹1100–₹1300, leaving many farmers disappointed.

For farmers still planning to sell their stock, here are a few important considerations:

  1. Compare prices across mandis before selling.
  2. Consider sending your produce to state mandis offering higher rates.
  3. Focus on selling high-quality stock and avoid rushing with low-grade produce.

Let’s take a look at the detailed mandi-wise prices to help you make the best decision.

Gujarat vs Rajasthan – Which Performed Better?

Surat mandi of Gujarat, even with a massive arrival of 910 tonnes, the maximum rate touched ₹2000 per quintal, clearly showing high demand. Similarly, both Navsari and Padra mandis recorded ₹2000 for Red Nainital and other varieties. However, in Gondal mandi, prices were significantly lower at just ₹200–₹320, likely due to weaker demand or quality issues.

In contrast, Rajasthan’s performance was more uneven. While Bassi and Rawatsar saw strong rates up to ₹2000, major mandis like Sikar couldn’t go beyond ₹1100 per quintal. Overall, Gujarat mandis displayed stronger rates and higher demand compared to Rajasthan.

Important Advice for Farmers:

  1. If you have Red Nainital or other good-quality potatoes, consider targeting Gujarat mandis, where rates are currently reaching up to ₹2000/quintal.
  2. In areas where prices are below ₹1000, it might be wise to hold your stock and wait for market recovery.
  3. Always compare the quantity of arrivals and the variety traded before sending your produce to any mandi, as significant price differences can be seen even within the same state.
