The district administration has stepped up efforts to ensure hassle-free wheat procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP), with officials closely monitoring procurement centers and farmer facilities. During a meeting of the District Procurement Committee, Collector Raghvendra Singh directed officials to conduct regular inspections of procurement centers and resolve farmers’ issues without delay. The review covered wheat procurement, transportation, storage arrangements, and the availability of gunny bags across centers.
The Collector emphasized that farmers should not face any inconvenience at procurement centers. Officials were instructed to ensure proper arrangements for seating, drinking water, weighing facilities, and safe storage of produce. Senior procurement officials, including Joint Collector Rishabh Jain and other committee members, attended the meeting.
Wheat procurement operations are progressing rapidly across the district this season. So far, 17.23 lakh quintals of wheat have been procured from 25,604 farmers. A total of 50,788 farmers had registered to sell wheat at MSP this year. Procurement activities are currently being carried out through 70 procurement centers across the district.
The administration has also accelerated the process of issuing procurement approval slips to ensure timely payments to farmers. According to officials, payments worth nearly ₹236.67 crore have already been transferred to farmers. Authorities have been directed to further speed up the payment process so that farmers receive their dues without delay.
To maintain transparency and prevent irregularities, the Collector instructed officials to conduct surprise inspections at procurement centers and verify stock records regularly. Strict action has been ordered in cases where discrepancies or irregularities are found.
Officials were also asked to strengthen storage management for procured wheat. In case warehouses at any procurement center are expected to fill up quickly, alternative storage arrangements must be prepared in advance under a backup plan. The administration has also stressed ensuring adequate supply of gunny bags so that procurement operations continue smoothly without interruption.
The district administration stated that providing better facilities to farmers at procurement centers remains a top priority. Continuous monitoring is being carried out to make the procurement process transparent, efficient, and farmer-friendly. Officials have been instructed to address complaints on the spot and ensure there is no negligence in procurement operations.
Agriculture experts believe that timely procurement and prompt payments provide financial relief to farmers and help them prepare for the next cropping season. The rapid pace of wheat procurement in the district is being seen as a positive development for the farming community.
