In a major step towards doubling farmers’ income and creating alternative employment opportunities, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a free 90-day beekeeping training program. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will be conducted in Saharanpur, Basti, and Prayagraj. The information was shared by the State Minister of Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing (Independent Charge), Dinesh Pratap Singh.
Minister Singh highlighted that beekeeping is a profitable venture requiring minimal land and investment. The government is promoting it scientifically to increase honey production while generating self-employment opportunities for rural youth. Beekeeping also enhances cross-pollination, boosting crop productivity and thereby raising farmers’ incomes.
Along with free training, the government will provide up to 40% subsidy for beekeeping. This move is aimed at strengthening farmers financially and unlocking new prospects in the horticulture sector.
The Department of Horticulture and Food Processing will organize the training from September 16 to December 15, 2025. The sessions will be held at the Horticulture Experiment & Training Centers in Saharanpur and Basti, and the Government Garden in Prayagraj.
Open for All Categories: Director of Horticulture and Food Processing, Dr. Bhanu Prakash Ram, stated that the program is open to both men and women from all categories. Upon completion, participants will be able to adopt beekeeping as a sustainable source of income.
