The state government is actively working towards the goal of doubling farmers’ income by promoting the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, crop diversification, and integration of allied activities such as animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries. All concerned departments have been instructed to coordinate efforts and provide comprehensive on-field support to farmers.

Emphasis on Improved Seeds and Nutritional Crops:

The Agriculture Commissioner has directed officials to encourage farmers to adopt improved seed varieties. Biofortified wheat varieties such as HI 1650, 1636, 1633, and 1655, rich in iron and zinc, are being promoted for their health benefits. Additionally, farmers are being guided to grow high-yielding pulses like 'Pusa Arhar 16' to increase productivity and income.

Promoting Efficient Irrigation and Soil Testing:

Farmers are being encouraged to use pressurized pipe irrigation systems, which are eligible for government subsidies. Soil testing is also being emphasized through district-level laboratories to ensure scientifically-informed fertilizer use that enhances crop yield and soil health.

Access to Modern Equipment and Digital Market Platforms:

Custom Hiring Centers are being strengthened to make modern farm machinery and tools easily accessible to farmers. To streamline the sale of produce, farmers are being linked with e-Mandis and the Farm Gate app, enabling them to market their crops directly from their fields without relying on intermediaries.

Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Farming: Burning crop residue (stubble) negatively impacts soil fertility. Farmers are being advised to use Happy Seeder and Super Seeder technology for sowing without burning residue. These techniques retain essential nutrients in the soil and lead to better crop productivity. Farmers who have successfully used these methods are being promoted as role models to inspire others.

Balanced Fertilizer Use and Infrastructure Improvements: Farmers are being encouraged to shift from traditional DAP fertilizers to NPK-based fertilizers, which contain all essential nutrients required for crop growth. Additionally, the modernization of double-lock fertilizer storage centers is underway to ensure smooth distribution, along with efforts to improve waiting and seating arrangements for farmers at supply points.
