Soybean Farmers Get ₹1500 Crore Payment, Wheat Procurement Price Fixed at ₹2625

Madhya Pradesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to farmer welfare and rural development, stating that ensuring irrigation water for every farm remains a top priority. Efforts are being intensified to expand irrigation infrastructure across the state, strengthening the agricultural sector and improving farm productivity.

At a public programme held in Shamshabad in Vidisha district, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a series of initiatives aimed at supporting farmers and accelerating regional development. Along with several relief measures for farmers, development projects worth ₹163 crore were unveiled for the district. New initiatives to promote women’s empowerment, skill development and livestock farming were also announced during the event.

₹15 Billion Transferred to Soybean Farmers:

The Chief Minister said that Vidisha district is among the leading agricultural regions in the state. Under the Bhavantar Payment Scheme, nearly ₹15 billion (₹1,500 crore) has been transferred to the bank accounts of soybean farmers. The government also announced that mustard will now be procured under the same scheme.

In addition, farmers growing urad will receive a bonus of ₹600 per quintal. The Chief Minister said the last date for wheat procurement registration has been extended, and the state government will purchase wheat at ₹2,625 per quintal, including a bonus of ₹40 per quintal. The government aims to ensure that farmers receive ₹2,700 per quintal for wheat by 2028.

Beneficiaries Receive Benefits under Government Schemes:

During the programme, beneficiaries were provided assistance under various welfare schemes. These included the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Narwai Prabandhan Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, along with support related to farm machinery, livestock and food processing initiatives.

Development Projects worth ₹163 Crore Announced:

The state government also announced development projects worth around ₹163 crore for the district. This includes the inauguration of 41 development works valued at nearly ₹60 crore, among them the Sandipani School in Kurwai.

Additionally, foundation stones were laid for 56 new development projects costing ₹104.56 crore. These projects include the upgradation of Vidisha College. The Chief Minister also noted that the state budget has approved ₹116 crore for new road projects in Vidisha district. He added that a proposal to rename Shamshabad as “Surya Nagar” may be considered in the future.

‘Navya’ Skill Development Programme Launched:

To promote women’s empowerment, the state government launched the “Navya” skill development programme in Vidisha as a pilot project. The initiative is being implemented across 27 districts in nine states, with Vidisha being the only district from Madhya Pradesh included in the programme.

The scheme, girls who have completed Class 10 will receive skill training to help them pursue self-employment opportunities. The government also continues to provide ₹1,500 per month to women under the Ladli Behna scheme, with plans to gradually increase the amount. Modern Sandipani schools are also being developed in the state to provide better educational opportunities for students.

Higher Support for Cow Shelters and Livestock:

The government also highlighted its efforts to promote cattle protection and livestock farming. Large-scale gaushalas are being developed across the state, and a model cow shelter will also be established in Shamshabad.

Financial assistance for government-run gaushalas has been increased from ₹20 to ₹40 per cow. In addition, under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme, farmers maintaining 25 cows can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh.

Several development announcements were also made for the Shamshabad region. These include ₹3 crore for development works in the municipal council area, the establishment of a new electricity substation, and further development after technical evaluation of the Sanjay Sagar and Sagad irrigation projects.
