Farmers Empowered Towards Modern and Diversified Farming Practices

As part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (Developed Agriculture Resolution Campaign), the Agriculture Department, along with allied departments such as Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, and Fisheries, is organizing farmer awareness camps in selected villages of Budhar, Sohagpur, and Gohparu Janpad Panchayats.

Agricultural Camp Organized in Village Barkoda:

Gohparu Janpad’s village Barkoda, an agricultural camp was conducted under the guidance of agricultural scientist Dr. B.K. Prajapati. During the camp, farmers received valuable scientific and practical information aimed at making agriculture more profitable. Several farmer concerns were also addressed on-site.

Focus on Innovation and Crop Diversification:

Senior Agriculture Development Officer Mr. C.B. Bagri encouraged farmers to adopt crop diversification and crop rotation to improve profitability. He urged them to include horticultural crops, vegetables, spices, and medicinal plants alongside traditional crops. Intercropping practices were also recommended to maximize land utilization.

Promotion of Natural and Organic Farming:

Farmers were advised to gradually adopt natural and organic farming methods using resources like vermicompost, NADEP compost, green manure, organic pesticides, and biogas. Mr. Bagri emphasized expanding natural farming practices for long-term sustainability and better soil health.

Guidance on Crop Protection and Nutrient Management: The camp also focused on best practices in seed treatment, soil testing, integrated nutrient management (INM), and integrated pest management (IPM). Farmers were advised to avoid the use of highly toxic pesticides and to adopt eco-friendly farming methods.

Boosting Income through Allied Agricultural Activities: To enhance farm income, Mr. Bagri advised integrating livestock rearing, poultry farming, and fishery with crop production. He also encouraged farmers to take up value addition and processing of agricultural produce to gain better returns.
