The Department of Farmers Welfare and Agricultural Development has advised farmers to use nano fertilizers for improved crop productivity and environmental sustainability. Spraying nano fertilizers on crops helps provide essential nutrients without harming the environment. When applied once or twice during critical crop stages, these fertilizers can reduce the usage of conventional fertilizers by up to 50%. At present, various nano fertilizer products from different companies are available in the market, and farmers can choose them based on their specific requirements.
Nano Urea Plus is a government-certified, indigenous nano fertilizer that is completely safe and non-toxic. It contains 20% nitrogen and has a utilization efficiency of over 85%. One bottle of Nano Urea Plus is equivalent to one bag of conventional urea. It helps in improving crop yield, product quality, and farmer income. Moreover, it is easier to store and transport, making it cost-effective. Nano Urea Plus should be sprayed 2 to 3 times after the first top dressing of granular urea. It also helps reduce air, water, and soil pollution. It is recommended for use on crops such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and sugarcane at 35–40, 55–60, and if needed, 100–110 days after germination.
Nano DAP contains 8% nitrogen and 16% phosphorus. One bottle of Nano DAP is equivalent to one bag of conventional DAP. Its particles are smaller than 100 nanometers, allowing easy absorption through leaf stomata. This enhances seed energy, chlorophyll content, photosynthesis, and ultimately crop yield and quality. With an efficiency of over 90%, Nano DAP is affordable and eco-friendly.
Nano Copper: Enhancing Disease Resistance and Crop Quality, According to Dr. S.K. Nigam, Nano Copper is a chelated product that increases chlorophyll content and disease resistance in plants. It can be sprayed at 1–2 ml per liter of water or applied through drip irrigation. It can also be mixed with Nano Urea Plus and Nano DAP for better results.
Nano Zinc: Aiding Plant Growth and Grain Formation, Nano Zinc supports protein and nucleic acid synthesis, hormone production, and grain development in crops. Mix 1 ml per liter of clean water and spray on the leaves. It is also effective through drip irrigation.
Safe and Effective Use of Nano Fertilizers: Dr. Nigam recommends using a plate fan or cut nozzle for spraying. Store nano fertilizers in a cool, dry place. Spraying should be done in the morning or evening when there is no dew on the leaves. Use the product within 12 months from the date of manufacture. If it rains within 12 hours of spraying, reapplication is advised.
