The state government has made a major decision in the interest of farmers and livestock owners. It has announced that farmers will receive ₹17,000 crore in crop loans this year, along with an additional ₹3,000 crore in loans for livestock development.
According to the government, farmers will no longer have to wait long for crop loans. Under the Immediate Crop Loan Scheme, launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, loans will be sanctioned on the same day the farmer submits an online application. The facility is being provided through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).
The scheme was recently launched from Dharmapuri and is now being rolled out across the state. Farmers are no longer required to visit PACS offices in person. Instead, they can apply online or through e-service centers and receive the loan amount on the same day. Each farmer will be eligible for a loan of up to ₹5 lakh under this initiative.
In the previous year, the Tamil Nadu government distributed ₹15,062 crore in crop loans to 17.37 lakh farmers and ₹2,645 crore in livestock development loans to 4.43 lakh beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has also taken significant steps to extend loan facilities to tenant farmers. Under the Crop Cultivator Rights Card (CCRC) program, banks have been instructed to provide institutional loans to eligible tenant farmers.
Special Chief Secretary (Agriculture & Cooperation) B. Rajasekhar stated that the government is committed to ensuring farmers has easy access to credit and welfare schemes. Through the CCRC program, tenant farmers can avail themselves of loans, insurance, and other benefits without compromising the rights of landowners.
