The state government is continuously introducing new initiatives to enhance the economic prosperity of women from self-help groups. In this direction, the Chief Minister has launched the “One Orchard in Mother’s Name” project under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. Under this scheme, fruit orchards are being developed on the private land of women from self-help groups.

Overwhelming Response from Women:

The project has generated immense enthusiasm among women. Against the set target, more than 34,084 women have registered on the mobile application to participate.

Plantation and Infrastructure Support:

The project, the government is providing plants, fertilizers, resources for digging pits, barbed wire fencing for plant protection, and a 50,000-liter water tank for irrigation. Large-scale plantation of fruit trees has already begun across the state.

Digital Selection and App-Based Process:

Beneficiaries are being selected through the “One Orchard in Mother’s Name” app, developed by the MGNREGA Council with support from MPSEDC. In cases where a woman does not own land, plantation can be done on the land of her husband, father, father-in-law, or son, with their consent.

Adoption of Advanced Technology for the First Time:

For the first time in the state, plantation is being carried out using Sipri software-based scientific methods. This includes soil testing, analysis of climatic and land suitability, selection of plant varieties and seasons, and irrigation feasibility. Plantation will not be carried out on unsuitable land. Additionally, concerned officials and staff have been given special training.

Empowering Over 31,000 Women: This ambitious project is set to benefit more than 31,300 women across the state. On their private land, over 3 million fruit-bearing plants will be planted, creating a sustainable foundation for their income and prosperity.

Training and Selection Process: A minimum of 100 beneficiaries are being selected from each block. Selected women will receive training twice a year. To qualify, each beneficiary must have a minimum of 0.5 acre and a maximum of 1 acre of land.

Deployment of Krishi Sakhis: To support the beneficiaries, one Krishi Sakhi (Farm Guide) will be appointed for every 25 acres. These guides will provide training and assistance in fertilizer use, irrigation, pest management, preparation of organic fertilizers and pesticides, and cultivation of intercrops.

Drone and Dashboard Monitoring: The quality and progress of plantation will be monitored through drones and satellite imaging. Additionally, a dedicated monitoring dashboard has been developed. The top 3 districts, 10 block panchayats, and 25 gram panchayats will be honored for outstanding performance.
