The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, has further strengthened the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform by adding nine new agricultural commodities. With this expansion, a total of 247 commodities can now be traded on the platform. This move responds to the growing demand from farmers, traders, and stakeholders for wider market coverage and greater trading opportunities.
The e-NAM platform aims to provide farmers and traders with a transparent, competitive, and technology-driven marketplace that connects agricultural mandis across the country. This expansion will enable farmers to receive fair, quality-based prices for their produce, reduce reliance on middlemen, and enhance their bargaining power.
The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), in consultation with state agencies, traders, experts, and the Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), has developed standardized tradable parameters for the nine newly added commodities. These parameters have been approved by the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
So far, DMI has established tradable standards for 238 commodities. With this addition, the number has now increased to 247.
By introducing standardized grades and quality-linked pricing, the e-NAM platform ensures that farmers receive the true value of their produce. This initiative not only fosters a transparent and reliable trading ecosystem but also safeguards farmer interests and supports the long-term growth of India’s agricultural economy.
The newly approved tradable parameters are now available on the official e-NAM portal (enam.gov.in), allowing farmers to connect with larger markets, secure remunerative prices, and benefit from assured quality standards.
This step reflects the Government of India’s commitment to empowering farmers through digital tools, promoting quality-driven trade, and ensuring inclusive growth in the agriculture sector.
