The app provides alerts about lightning strikes and adverse weather conditions up to 24 hours in advance, helping to minimize casualties and the overall impact of disasters.
The administration has issued instructions to the police, health, and relief departments to remain on high alert to ensure swift emergency response. In addition, the district control room has been made fully operational to coordinate any necessary action.
Developed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the DAMINI app provides accurate forecasts of the location and timing of potential lightning strikes. All field staff and citizens have been directed to download the app to stay alert and take timely precautions.
An extensive awareness campaign is being conducted across villages to educate people about thunderstorms, lightning, and other seasonal weather-related risks. The initiative is being supported by voluntary organizations, helping ensure widespread outreach in rural areas.
IMD Weather Alerts Taken on Priority: Short-range and medium-range warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) are being treated with top priority. All relevant departments are being promptly alerted to take proactive measures and prevent damage.
