Amendments Approved in Cabinet Meeting: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was held on Tuesday at the state secretariat. During this meeting, important amendments were approved to facilitate the successful implementation of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah / Nikah Yojana. These changes aim to make the scheme more transparent and ensure that benefits reach only the truly deserving.
As per the revised guidelines, the scheme will now be exclusively available to girls belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. Verification of the girl and her guardians through the BPL portal has been made mandatory. This step will help ensure accurate eligibility checks and prevent benefits from being misused by ineligible applicants.
The government has also fixed the number of couples who can participate in divisional-level mass marriage events. Each event must now include a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 200 couples. This regulation is aimed at making the events more organized and manageable.
Greater Transparency in Application Process: To enhance transparency in the application process, preliminary scrutiny of applications will continue at the local body level. Additionally, Aadhaar-based e-KYC is now mandatory for both the bride and groom. It is also required to upload their details on the Samagra Portal.
Revised Financial Assistance Structure: The revised scheme, each eligible girl will now receive financial assistance of ₹55,000. Out of this, ₹49,000 will be directly transferred to the bride’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The remaining ₹6,000 will be provided to the organizing body to manage event-related expenses. This new structure aims to ensure transparency and operational efficiency in the scheme.
