The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to use Nano DAP (Nano Diammonium Phosphate) during the sowing of Kharif crops and to adopt alternative fertilizers in view of a potential shortage of conventional DAP.
Nano DAP is a modern liquid fertilizer containing 8% Nitrogen and 16% Phosphorus. Its nano-sized particles (less than 100 nanometers) are easily absorbed through the seed surface or plant stomata. During early germination stages, Nano DAP ensures immediate nutrient availability, promoting better root development, drought tolerance, and disease resistance in plants.
Use of Alternative Fertilizers Recommended:
Bhopal district, Kharif crops are grown over 145.87 thousand hectares, primarily including soybean, paddy, and maize. Anticipating a DAP shortage at the state level, the Agriculture Department has recommended the following alternatives:
These combinations fulfill NPK requirements and provide micronutrients like Sulphur and Potash, which help in enhancing grain weight, shine, and the plant’s ability to resist pests and diseases.
When to Apply SSP?
Since SSP is less soluble, it is best applied during field preparation. If missed, it can still be applied during flowering or early fruiting, as it dissolves slowly and becomes available to plants in time.
Department's Appeal to Farmers: The Deputy Director of Agriculture has appealed to all farmers to use Nano DAP and recommended alternatives this Kharif season to ensure healthy and high-yielding crops. This approach will help mitigate the effects of fertilizer shortages and maximize productivity.
