The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is set to participate in Biofach India 2025, the country’s largest organic trade fair, scheduled to be held from August 30 to September 1, 2025, at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida.
More than 27 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) from the Northeast region will showcase their products at the event. These FPOs have been nurtured under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), a flagship initiative to strengthen organic farming in the region.
The FPOs will exhibit a wide range of organic and value-added products, including cardamom, kiwi, pineapple, ginger, turmeric, king chili, rice, millets, spices, fresh and processed fruits, and Geographical Indication (GI) certified products. Farmers will also get an opportunity to interact directly with buyers, traders, and industry experts, creating new business opportunities.
Launched in 2015-16, Mission Organic has emerged as a transformative program for the Northeast, aiming to provide farmers with end-to-end support in production, processing, certification, and marketing. Special emphasis is placed on small and marginal farmers, with the creation of organic clusters that directly connect them with markets. This not only ensures better price realization but also secures sustainable and stable income.
Participation in Biofach India 2025 will enhance the visibility of Northeast India’s organic produce in both national and international markets. It will also help farmers forge new partnerships and strengthen their position in the global organic value chain.
Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Agriculture: Through this initiative, the Government of India is not only promoting organic farming but also taking a crucial step towards sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agriculture, ensuring long-term benefits for both farmers and consumers.
