The Bihar government has announced a significant decision for the establishment and expansion of nurseries under the Centrally Sponsored Agroforestry Scheme for the year 2025–26. A total allocation of ₹3.28 crore has been approved—offering 50% subsidy for setting up new nurseries and financial support for upgrading existing ones. The goal is to increase farmers’ income and ensure the availability of high-quality saplings at affordable rates.
Agriculture Minister Ramkripal Yadav stated that the initiative aims to expand agroforestry in Bihar, strengthen environmental conservation, and enhance the state’s green cover.
Under this scheme, the government will increase the availability of timber and non-timber species such as Gamhar, Semal, Malabar neem, and Neem, ensuring that farmers get healthy and quality saplings at lower costs.
According to the announced provisions:
Applicants can contact their district agriculture office for detailed information and application assistance.
The minister emphasized that this initiative is a major step toward employment generation, boosting local entrepreneurship, and strengthening the rural economy.
To equip farmers with modern agroforestry practices, the scheme also includes exposure visits to successful nursery models where they can learn about sapling management, production techniques, marketing, and income-enhancement methods.
Dual Benefits from Nursery Expansion:
By promoting more nurseries across the state, the Bihar government aims to encourage healthy and sustainable plantation practices that will support both horticulture and agriculture.
