The Bihar government’s agriculture department has launched a significant initiative to support farmers in managing pests in horticulture crops. Under this scheme, farmers will have access to subsidized spraying services to control pests and diseases in their orchards and crops.
The scheme covers fruit crops such as mango, guava, litchi, banana, and papaya. Farmers will receive a subsidy of 50-75%, reducing their expenditure on pest management. Authorized service providers will supply recommended pesticides under this initiative.
For mango trees, farmers will receive a 75% subsidy for pest and fruit drop management, amounting to ₹57 per tree for the first spray and ₹72 per tree for the second spray. Litchi farmers will receive ₹162 per tree for the first spray and ₹114 per tree for the second spray.
Benefits for Banana and Papaya Farmers: The Bihar government is actively promoting banana and papaya cultivation. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a 50% subsidy or ₹2,150 per acre for the first spray and ₹2,000 per acre for the second spray.
Application Process: To benefit from this scheme, farmers need to apply online through the DBT portal. The spraying services will adhere to set standards to ensure transparency and effective implementation.
