Montha cyclone and unseasonal rainfall that lashed several districts of Bihar in October, the state government has stepped forward with a relief package for affected farmers. The announcement comes as a major source of relief for thousands of cultivators whose standing crops were severely damaged due to the adverse weather conditions.
Agriculture Minister Ramkripal Yadav stated that crop losses were reported across 12 districts due to heavy rainfall, flooding, and the impact of the Montha cyclone. A comprehensive assessment survey has already been completed in these affected regions. Based on this survey, the government has decided to provide agricultural input subsidies to eligible farmers at three different compensation rates, depending on land type and crop category. According to the ministry, 397 panchayats across 39 blocks have been impacted by this natural disaster.
The minister said that after completing the survey and damage assessment, the government will soon release compensation to eligible farmers. He urged all affected farmers to complete their online registration on the departmental portal (dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in) by December 2 to ensure timely benefits under the subsidy scheme.
