If you're looking to start a new agriculture-related business or dream of setting up a fruit plant nursery, this news could be your golden chance. To promote horticulture in the state, the Bihar government is offering up to ₹10 lakh in subsidies for establishing small private nurseries.

Under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for the year 2025–26, the state will provide 50% subsidy (up to ₹10 lakh) on a total project cost of ₹20 lakh per hectare for private-sector nursery projects. This scheme is not just about financial support—it’s a significant step toward self-employment for farmers and budding agri-entrepreneurs.

Who Can Avail This Scheme?

Any interested individual in Bihar who wants to set up a fruit plant nursery is eligible. However, the applicant must be registered on the DBT portal. Additionally, the applicant must provide land ownership documents or a family lineage certificate.

Applicants from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) will also need to submit a caste certificate.

Land Requirements for Nursery:

To establish a mini nursery, the applicant must have between 0.4 hectare and 1 hectare of land. This land should be:

  • Located near a village road
  • Free from waterlogging
  • Equipped with water sources (such as tubewell, pump set, and electricity connection)

If the land requires landfilling, the cost of leveling or filling must be borne by the applicant.

How Much Subsidy Will Be Provided and How?

The estimated cost for a mini nursery is ₹20 lakh per hectare, out of which 50% (₹10 lakh) will be provided as subsidy.

This subsidy will be disbursed in two installments:

  • First Installment (60%) – After completion of the fixed-cost works of the model project
  • Second Installment (40%) – After completion of recurring and other remaining works
