Earn Big Profits from Fig Cultivation in Bihar - Government Offers ₹30,000/Ha Subsidy, Learn the Application Process

The Bihar government has launched the “Fig Fruit Development Scheme” to promote fig cultivation across the state. This initiative aims to increase farmers’ income by connecting them with modern fruit production techniques. Under this scheme, farmers will receive financial assistance for planting, maintenance, and care of fig crops.

Scheme Coverage: Eligible Districts:

The scheme is being implemented across 32 districts in Bihar to boost fig cultivation. Key districts include:

West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Madhepura, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Nalanda, Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jamui, Jehanabad, and Arwal.

Minimum and Maximum Land Area:

Farmers can avail benefits for fig cultivation on a minimum of 0.1 hectare (0.25 acres) and a maximum of 2 hectares (5 acres).

Subsidy Amount:

The scheme provides financial assistance as follows:

  1. First year: ₹30,000 per hectare
  2. Second year: ₹20,000 per hectare

The subsidy will be directly transferred to the farmer’s DBT-registered bank account.

Eligibility and Required Documents:

  1. Only owner-cultivator farmers are eligible.
  2. Land ownership documents or revenue receipts are mandatory.
  3. If the farmer’s name is not listed in the land records, a lineage certificate is required.
  4. Farmers should verify their DBT-registered bank account details before applying.

Reservation for Women and Categories:

Beneficiaries will be selected as per the following distribution:

  1. General category: 78.537%
  2. Scheduled Castes: 20%
  3. Scheduled Tribes: 1.463%

Additionally, 30% of beneficiaries in each category will be women.

Supply of Planting Material:

High-quality fig planting material will be provided through e-tenders or selected agencies to ensure healthy and productive crops.

  1. Visit the official website: Go to the Bihar Horticulture Department website.
  2. Select “Scheme” section: Click on the “Scheme” option on the homepage.
  3. Go to fruit-related schemes: Navigate to the “Fruit Related Scheme” link.
  4. Select Fig Fruit Development Scheme: Choose “Fig Fruit Development Scheme (State Scheme)” from the list.
  5. Click on Online Application: Access the application form through the “Online Application” button.
  6. Register or log in: First-time applicants should register as a new user, while registered farmers can log in to complete the application.

  1. Keep DBT bank account and land documents ready before applying.
  2. Provide accurate information to avoid issues in processing.
  3. Submit the application within the specified timeline, as benefits are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
