Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, both the central and state governments are continuously working to strengthen the agriculture sector. Various impactful schemes are being implemented with the aim of increasing farmers' income, modernizing agriculture, and bringing advanced technologies directly to the fields. One such initiative is the AATMA Scheme (Agricultural Technology Management Agency), which aims to empower farmers by providing training in modern agricultural practices.
A farmer from the village of Vapapur in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, has taken a significant step toward organic farming after benefiting from the AATMA Scheme. He shared that he participated in exposure visits and training programs conducted in Ujjain, Dewas, and Indore under the scheme. During this time, he learned about the process of vermicompost preparation, organic farming methods, and the importance of natural fertilizers.
After returning, he set up a vermicompost unit on his own farm. Initially starting on a small scale, he gradually expanded the production after witnessing the benefits. The use of vermicompost improved the soil fertility and nearly eliminated the need for chemical fertilizers. This not only enhanced the crop quality but also reduced production costs, leading to increased profits.
A Source of Inspiration for Fellow Farmers: Today, this farmer has become a source of inspiration for others in his village. He not only produces vermicompost himself but also motivates fellow farmers to adopt this sustainable practice. He believes that with the right guidance and training, farmers can adopt modern techniques and double their income. His experience showcases how the AATMA Scheme is playing a crucial role in empowering farmers and fostering self-reliance in agriculture.
