July 22, 2025: Wheat Crosses ₹2800 in Parts of Madhya Pradesh, But Several Mandis Still Below MSP

Fresh mandi reports from across Madhya Pradesh reveal a mixed picture for wheat farmers. While wheat prices have shown slight improvement in many markets, the gains are not uniform across the state. In some mandis, prices have surged above the government-declared MSP of ₹2425 per quintal, with top rates even crossing ₹2800. However, in several other regions, wheat continues to trade at or below the MSP reflecting a deeply uneven market trend.

This disparity in rates highlights how farmers in some areas are finding hope, while others are still struggling to break even. Strategic decision-making based on mandi-wise data has become crucial to ensure maximum profit from wheat sales.

Where Farmers Gained, Where They Still Struggle:

Dewas mandi saw the highest price today, with wheat reaching up to ₹2792/quintal nearly ₹367 above the MSP. Indore, Bina, and Thandla also posted promising prices above ₹2600, offering some relief to farmers in those regions.

However, in markets like Satna, Mandla, and Sagar, wheat is still trading between ₹2300 and ₹2430. This means many farmers are still selling below cost, facing losses even after months of hard work.

Advice for Farmers:

  • If prices in your region are still below MSP and you have storage facilities, it may be wise to hold your stock for a few days.
  • Wheat varieties like Malwa Shakti and Mill Quality are receiving higher prices — focusing on better-quality output can yield better returns.
  • Keep tracking mandi-specific trends and explore selling in nearby higher-paying mandis if logistics allow.

Conclusion: While wheat prices in Madhya Pradesh are gradually improving, the market remains fragmented. Some farmers are finally seeing prices above MSP, but many others continue to face pressure. To ensure better profits, farmers must stay informed and time their sales carefully.
