August 2, 2025 — Good news for wheat farmers in Uttar Pradesh as mandi prices in several regions surged above the government-declared Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,425 per quintal. Farmers in Jalalabad, Barabanki, and Fatehpur reported the highest rates, touching ₹2,600 to ₹2,650/quintal, signaling a positive trend in the market.

According to the latest mandi data, this rise is driven by local demand and quality produce arriving in the markets. If the trend continues, farmers may expect even better rates in the coming weeks.

Market Overview: Where Prices Rose and Where They Lagged:

On August 2, wheat prices in most UP mandis remained above MSP, offering much-needed relief to farmers. Jalalabad topped the chart with a maximum rate of ₹2,650, followed by Fatehpur (₹2,630) and Firozabad (₹2,610) — marking strong price zones for the season.

Other mandis like Barabanki, Badaun, and Bangarmau also showed strength, with rates hovering between ₹2,550–₹2,580.

However, some regions saw moderate to low prices Lakhimpur (₹2390), Biwar (₹2430), and Hargaon (₹2460) — likely due to high arrivals or moisture-laden produce.

Advice for Farmers

  1. Target Strong Mandis: If you have good-quality, well-dried wheat, consider selling in high-rate mandis like Jalalabad, Barabanki, or Fatehpur to secure better prices.
  2. Hold Average or Moist Stocks: If your stock is of lower quality or not fully dried, consider storing it for a few more days. Upcoming government procurement drives or export demand may boost rates further.
  3. Focus on Cleaning and Drying: Properly cleaned and moisture-free wheat can fetch ₹50–₹100/quintal more, making post-harvest care worthwhile.
